Born in Gqeberha, Lungelwa Honey Mtabazi aka LocHIVE The DJ, first burst onto the male-dominated Deep House & Afro-tech music scene in 2017 and quickly became one of the most recognizable faces and names on the circuit. Her ability to deliver exceptional music has been described as “music that hits the heart”. This saw her grow her mid-week ‘Wine Wednesday’ residency at popular Tshisanyama Black Impala, from an average of just 20 people to one of Gqeberha’s most popular weekday nightlife appointments.

LocHIVE is a two-time graduate with a BA in Development Studies from Nelson Mandela University, as well as a Post-graduate in Enterprise Management from Rhodes Business School. LocHIVE has used this knowledge from these qualifications to establish the “I am A DJ” incubation program. This program aims to create a safe way for females trying to enter the male-dominated field of DJ’ing. The program has given over 20 aspiring female DJ’s the opportunity for mentorship.

Today LocHIVE is one of the most desired DJs in South Africa but has too made waves internationally. One of her more noticeable feats is her rapidly growing YouTube Channel, with one video mix hitting 1 million streams in 4 weeks and receiving outstanding reviews from Deep House and Afro-tech music lovers worldwide.
